Solid Surfacing

When you want to install ideal countertops to make your kitchen or bath area truly stand out, you have to know what types are available and the benefits and drawbacks of each! That’s where our countertop installation professionals can help. We’ll give you the guidance you need to make the right choice for your budget and ensure you have the countertop that fits your interior best.

Quartz

Pros: Quartz has the look and feel of stone but needs less maintaining. It stands up well to hot pots, serrated knives, abrasive pads and stains, and can be customized in a variety of colors and patterns as well. Quartz is a colorful and attractive combination of minerals and resin.

Cons: Quartz has edges and corners that can chip and so they must be rounded to prolong the life of your countertop. If chipped or broken, you will need a professional to repair them.

Granite

Pros: Each slab of granite has a unique look. It is a natural material that isn’t harmed by heat, cuts, or scratches, on the whole. Both polished and matted finishes of granite are also resistant to most stains when properly sealed.

Cons: You will need to reseal granite, periodically, to avoid stains. Like quartz, repairs must be done by a professional.

Cultured Marble

Are you trying to decide about cultured marble vanity tops vs custom marble vanity tops? Cultured marble is not a common term people hear often. But some homeowners end up choosing it for vanity tops for their versatility in styles and shapes. However, you should know a few things about cultured marble before choosing your vanity top. Know what it is and everything there is to know about it.

What Are Cultured Marble Vanity Tops?

Trying to decide whether cultured marble is right for you? Looking into custom marble vanity tops? Let’s take a look at the difference to help you decide.

A mixture of marble dust filler, polyester, resin, and hardened pigments, cultured marble vanity tops can give you the versatility you want in terms of style and shape. However, they aren’t quite custom vanity countertops, as they are limited in size, design, and color.

Laminate

Pros: Cost-effective and easy-to-install, laminate is much better looking than in years past due to modern print technology and decorative edges. Stains also have little to no effect on laminates.

Cons: You cannot cut directly on laminate, as it will permanently damage it. So please use a cutting board.

Solid Surfacing

Pros: Solid surfacing is available in a variety of colors and patterns. It can be used for counters, sinks, backsplashes, and other places with relative ease. It creates a seamless look, as the joints are almost invisible, and, similar to quartz, won’t vary overmuch. Solid surfacing is stain-resistant and easily repaired if damaged (minor).

Cons: It scratches and cuts easily. Please use a cutting board.
